KIPP’S APPARATUS
Product Description
Description:
This Kipp's Apparatus, or Kipp Generator, is a piece of Glassware for preparing small amounts of gases, such as carbon dioxide. It is comprised of 3 chambers orientated vertically, with a stopcock situated near the top of the middle chamber so that gas can be released into the desired lab equipment. The Kipp's Apparatus has three main segments. The first and top segment is a thistle funnel and bulb structure through which diluted acid can be poured. This reacts with the metal sulphide in the base of the apparatus. The hydrogen sulphide gas evolved from this reaction collects in the middle of the dome from where it can be released through a leak-proof stopcock. The base is provided with a residual outlet which is capped for easy cleaning.
The glass is high-temperature and chemical resistant.
